It is official! It's now become a trend to split the last movie of a saga into two to stretch out the suspense a little bit more. So, yeah it gets more money out of us all, but I for one try to see the positive aspects of this. It let's the magic last that much longer. The writer and producers are able to play out more of the story on screen. After all, who is going to sit through a 4 hour long movie, well besides those hard core Lord of the Rings fans.
